Coronation Property says its 364-apartment mega development will bring new life to Merrylands, with plans to include a vibrant dining precinct and gourmet marketplace.
The ‘Mason and Main’ complex is situated at 249-259 Merrylands Road, in Merrylands’ city centre and is expected to attract those who have been priced out of Westmead and Parramatta.
At its sale launch recently, 30 of the 70 Stage 1, off the plan apartments were snatched up, with significant interest from first home buyers.
Coronation Property Urban Transformation Director, Aras Labutis said they were blown away by the amount of interest.
“We’re delighted to see the response by locals and first home buyers and their enthusiasm for the project,” he said.
“Creating apartments with affordability, flexibility and longevity was a huge part of the project vision, and we are really pleased that feedback has been positive for all these factors.”
At ground level, Mason & Main’s retail space will include large arches that open out onto the street, creating a vibrant alfresco eat street.
This will feature high-end retail, a gourmet marketplace, and a dining precinct.
Mr Labutis said many of those working for the company are locals and are excited to be delivering this exciting project for the region.
“We really believe in western Sydney and know residents of Merrylands love where they live and want more diversity in home choices,” he said.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to give back to the community by creating a great place to live and a new foundation for a town centre where people can work and play.”
Merrylands’ population is forecast to grow by 1.32 per cent per year until 2036 and 1.45 per cent until 2056, higher than the remainder of Cumberland Local Government Area.
Cumberland Mayor, Steve Christou said he is concerned about the rapid growth of both population and development in this region and that more needs to be done to ensure the infrastructure can cope.
“I have received many complaints from local residents who are concerned that the Merrylands CBD is being overdeveloped,” he said.
“I have always been a strong advocator that the local community need to benefit from such proposals and that the Merrylands CBD was in strong need of public transport and infrastructure upgrades to cope with the sudden influx of residents this project will bring into the area.”
Construction will commence within the first half of 2022.
