Police have released an image of a man and are appealing for information as investigations continue into reports of a sexual touching in Merrylands earlier this year.
Just before 11:45am on Monday, January 31, a 23-year-old woman was approached by an unknown man near the stairs outside Merrylands Railway Station.
The man allegedly grabbed the woman and sexually touched her as he pulled her towards a nearby elevator.
Able to free herself, the woman continued up the stairs where the man again assaulted her. The man was last seen walking towards the station’s terminals.
Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command were alerted and commenced an investigation into the incident.
As part of ongoing inquiries, police have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist their investigation.
The man depicted is described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, about 190cm tall, solid build, aged in his mid-20s, with short black hair and a distinctive groomed beard. He is shown wearing a black t-shirt with a large Nike tick on the front and white stripes on the sleeves, grey shorts, and white shoes.
As inquiries continue, police urge anyone with information that may assist with the identification of the man to contact Police Transport command on 02 8852 1499 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
