Fatal house fire in Guildford

A person has died following a house fire in Guildford this morning.

Just before 5am today (Tuesday, February 18), emergency services were called to a home on Rowley Road, Guildford, following reports of a fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the home.

Five occupants are reported to have escaped; however, a man was found inside. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; but died at the scene. The man is yet to be formally identified.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command have established a crime scene, and an investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
