Outgoing Parramatta five-eighth Dylan Brown has opened up about his decision to leave the Eels at the end of the season.

Brown has agreed to join Newcastle on a whopping 10-year deal worth $13 million.

He will play for the Eels until the end of the season before making the switch to the Knights.

“I didn’t think I was ever going to leave this club, I didn’t think I would ever leave,” Brown said.

“But it’s my family and my future. The game’s not long, I’m trying to look after myself and my family so I’m happy with my decision.”

Brown said he “can’t wait” to join the Knights next year.

“Money has never really been a thing for me. It’s the 10 year security,” he said.

“It’s for my family and my future in the game.

“I’m very sad that I’m leaving but here we are. Things have happened and I’ve made the decision and now I’ve got to back myself.”

Brown said he would miss the Eels’ fans, who he has become close to over the years.

“I’m pretty sad to be leaving,” he said.

“I love the blue and gold army to bits. They are the best fans in the comp and I truly believe that. The decision wasn’t easy and the fans were one of the reasons why, they have always backed me.”

Brown said he had discussions with Parramatta before opting to accept the Newcastle contract.
