Two Australian Border Force officers have been stabbed in a dramatic incident at Clyde this morning.
About 3.40am today, officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command were called to James Ruse Drive, and found a 54-year-old man had been stabbed in the neck and cheek and a 36-year-old man had been assaulted.
The two injured men are being treated at Westmead Hospital; police have been told the injuries are not considered to be serious.
Police have been told the men were transporting a 28-year-old Tongan National from Villawood to Sydney Airport when the incident occurred.
The 28-year-old was to be deported from Australia.
Police have a description of the man they believe can assist with inquiries. He’s described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, with a tanned complexion, a large build, about 180cm tall with black hair, dark eyes and is unshaven. At the time he was wearing a black coat, black track pants and black and white sneakers.
Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command, with assistance of specialist police including the Dog Unit are continuing to search the area.
