Parramatta is on the air with impressive new podcast studio

Everyone has a story, and now Parramatta locals have a state-of-the-art outlet for them.

Mic’dUp Podcast Studios opened in the heart of Parramatta on May 16 with fully equipped podcast and video production studios for local creatives.

“We’ve got two purpose-built studios, cutting edge camera and audio equipment, and we’ve designed this space for creators, businesses, and storytellers that want to get their story out there but don’t know where to start,” said studio producer Daniel Hannah.

“There’s nothing like it out this way and there’s so many stories to tell in Parramatta. It’s such an untapped area.”

Allowing locals to have a yarn is at the core of what the studio does.

“We’re creatives first and we’re a business second,” Hannah explained.

“We originally built the studios for our own purposes to start our own personal podcast, but as we started doing that, we noticed that we were creating a really good space, and we thought we could let other creators come in at an affordable rate and help them get their stories out there.”

The studios have already received a lot of attention.

“We’ve got one client who helps students get into selective schools,” Hannah stated.

“He brings in his students and puts the kids in front of the camera and interviews them. That’s a really fun one.

“We’ve got another client who is a reformed drug user doing great things and wants to talk about his story and how people can get out of that lifestyle.”

According to the podcast producer, these clients are using the media platform of the future.

“At my house, we don’t have free-to-air television, we just watch YouTube, Netflix, or anything On Demand,” Hannah said.

“Podcasting is, in my opinion, the media platform now – it’s the new television. It doesn’t have to be as overproduced and anyone can do it.

“As long as they’ve got a story to tell, people want to hear it.”

The team at Mic’dUp Podcast Studios also hope to mentor young people who want to step into the media industry.

“We’re in the process of trying to work with universities and some other educational places to offer the space up for free as long as it’s pre-organised for students to come in and use the studio to get some hands-on experience at no cost,” Hannah explained.

“Anyone that’s studying that industry, we have reserved spots in our schedule for them to come in and use the space and get a bit of experience and learn.”
