Police have located a burnt-out car believed to be linked to the fatal shooting of a man in Winston Hills last night.
About 7pm on Tuesday, emergency services were called to Regiment Grove, Winston Hills, following reports of a public place shooting.
Officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command arrived to find a man had been shot in the chest while in a car.
“Police have been told after the man was shot, he attempted to seek aid from nearby homes; however, became unresponsive before emergency services arrived,” a Police spokesperson said.
“The 22-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital where he later died.”
About 11.15pm emergency services were called to Bounty Place, Old Toongabbie, following reports of a fire.
Police arrived to find an unoccupied Toyota SUV well alight.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze, and no injuries were reported.
Crime scenes were established at both locations which are believed to be linked.
Parramatta detectives – with assistance from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad – have commenced an investigation under Strike Force Karlgain.
