When someone goes missing, it can leave unanswered questions and pain for families, friends and colleagues.
Here’s five missing persons cases that remain unsolved, all linked to Parramatta.
Gillian Jamieson
Last seen: 1980

Gillian Jamieson, aged 19, was last seen leaving the Tollgate Hotel in Parramatta with her friend Deborah Susan Balkan.
They were seen in a white Holden sedan, being yelled at by a man in a black brimmed hat.
Gillian called her roommate and told her she and Deborah would be attending a party in the Wollongong area.
This was extremely out of character for both girls.
Gillian has not been seen or contacted family or friends since. She would be 65 today.
Wojtek Stasiak
Last seen: 2001

Wojtek Stasiak was last seen in Parramatta on February 2, 2001.
He was 22-years-old when he went missing and would be 47 today.
There are no suggestions that he remains alive today.
He had a solid build with brown eye and brown eyes.
He was very well known in tennis circles.
Zachary Ritz
Last seen: 2021

Zachary Ritz, aged 45, was last seen at his unit in Granville, on Wednesday, October 27 2021 and has not been seen or heard from since.
Zachary is described as Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, of solid build, with shoulder length black curly hair, and a dark scruffy beard.
Zachary walks with a limp and is often assisted by a walking stick. Zachary is known to frequent the areas of Granville, Greenacre, Merrylands and Auburn.
Quanne Diec
Last seen: 1998

One of Australia’s most high profile missing persons cases.
Quanne Diec was last seen by her father leaving for school from her Granville home on July 27, 1998. She was 12-years-old.
There are grave concerns for her welfare.
She would be 39-years-old if she was alive today.
In 2021, Coroner Derek Lee found the 12-year-old died in July 1998, the same month she went missing. Vinzent Tarantino remains a person of interest in the case.
Gregory Joseph Birks
Last seen: 2000

Gregory Joseph Birks was last seen at Ermington on August 11, 2000.
He was 32-years-old when he went missing, and would be 57 today.
His vehicle was located at a later date in the inner city.
He has made no contact with family or friends since this date and there are concerns for his safety and welfare.
