DA Lowdown: New ice cream shop could be coming to Church Street

New childcare facility proposed in North Parramatta

Parramatta City Council has received a Development Application (DA) for the amalgamation of three lots into one lot to make way for a single storey childcare in North Parramatta.

The childcare centre is proposing to be built at 25-29 Iron Street and will accommodate 124 children broken across age groups.

There will be 24 places available for zero to two-year-olds, 40 places for two to three-year-olds and 60 places for three to five-year-old children.

“The internal areas will consist of seven indoor playrooms over a single level, sleeping rooms, administrative areas including management room, kitchen, storerooms and amenities,” the Statement of Environmental Effects (SEE) attached to the DA said.

“The facility will also accommodate an outdoor play area.”

The childcare centre will be run by 20 staff members and is proposed to be open between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.

The proposal also includes an outdoor car park.

The development proposes a total of 31 car parking spaces over an under-croft level and outdoor car park.

In the under-croft level there would be 23 parking spaces, including nine visitor spaces and 14 staff spaces in a stacked parking arrangement.

Outdoors, there will be eight visitor parking spaces including two accessible spaces, according to the DA.

“Vehicular access to the outdoor car park and under-croft parking area is via a new double width vehicle crossover, graded ramp and driveway situated towards the south-western portion of the site via By Street,” the DA states.

The childcare centre has been designed as a steeped part one and part two-storey building that will present as a single-storey form to Iron Street and a one-two storey form to BY Street.

Parramatta City Council will now assess the publication.

Boutique ice cream shop proposed for Church Street

Parramatta City Council have received a Development Application for the fit out and use of the building as an ice cream shop in the heart of Parramatta.

A boutique ice cream shop has been proposed to be built on Church Street, positioned close to CommBank Stadium.

The development proposes a series of internal changes including the redesign of internal floor layouts to accommodate a cold storage and freezer room, waiting and seating areas and storage facilities.

The ice cream shop is proposed to be operational from 5am to 1am Monday to Saturday.

Parramatta City Council will now assess the application.

New health specialist approved in Winston Hills

Parramatta City Council has approved the change of use of a home in Winston Hills into an ear, nose and throat specialist.

The house is known as ‘Neil Cottage’ and is identified as a heritage listed dwelling.

The house is currently adjoined on two sides by other medical clinics.

“A detached single-storey medical clinic is situated to the north opposite across Churchill Road,” the Statement of Environmental Effects (SEE) attached to the DA said.

“A detached single-storey dwelling and a detached double-storey medical clinic are situated to the east opposite across Windsor Road.

“Both medical clinics appear to be adaptive reuses of former residential dwellings.”
There will be minor interior alterations to the house.

“The change of use itself will necessitate only minor internal alterations (discussed above), with the proposed specialist health consulting rooms having been ultimately designed to conform to the existing internal configuration of the heritage-listed building as much as possible,” the SEE document said.

The clinic, identified as Sydney Northwest ENT, will operate between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

There will be a maximum of three staff on the premises at one time, comprising of two clinicians and a receptionist.

“The ‘Sydney Northwest ENT’ will operate on a pre-arranged appointment scheduling rather than ‘walk0ins’,” the SEE document said.
