Ramadan Street Festival returns for two huge nights

Following last year’s success, Cumberland Council’s Ramadan Street Festival will return again this weekend – with the cultural celebration to now stretch over two massive days.

From Saturday, March 8, to Sunday, March 9, Auburn Road will be transformed into a street festival full of cultural performances, food stalls from around the world and local restaurant bites.

Open to everyone, the community is encouraged to come together to embrace the rich traditions of Ramadan at the annual event.

Cumberland Mayor Ola Hamed said she is looking forward to joining the community and celebrating the lively atmosphere of the festival.

“The Ramadan Street Festival is one of my favourite events, and this year we have extended the festival across two massive nights in Auburn, as we come together and break fast,” she said.

“It’s a magical time where Auburn’s streets come alive with culture, food, and community spirit. We’re so proud to showcase Auburn’s diversity and invite everyone from all over Sydney to experience the incredible traditions that make our community so special.”

On March 8, attendees will be able to enjoy exciting activities, including a community corner, Ramadan car photo booth, drumming performance, face painting, henna, glow and light-up toys, showbags, hair braiding, a high jump activity by Great Western Sydney and an AFL guess the footy competition from 7pm to midnight.

The next day, everyone is welcome to return to Auburn to enjoy the famous eateries and food trucks that will close out the festival.

Patrons attending the festival are encouraged to catch public transport.
