One of the most famous basketballers of his generation will be visiting Westfield Parramatta on Wednesday night as part of a Meet and Greet Tour across Australia.
NBA legend Allen “The Answer” Iverson will be making an appearance at popular fashion retailer Culture Kings from 5-6pm on Wednesday, January 21.
After recent appearances in Perth for the NBL’s HoopFest as well as in Brisbane, local fans now have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the 11-time NBA All-Star, former MVP and cultural icon.
Hundreds of basketball lovers are expected to pack out the Parramatta location tomorrow evening, with many spending between $150 and $700 to meet the former Philadelphia 76er and take photos.
Iverson played 14 seasons in the NBA after being drafted by the 76ers in 1996.
He would go on to win the NBA’s Rookie of the Year Award in 1997 and was crowned the League’s Most Valuable Player in 2001.
Iverson was picked for the All-Star team 11 times and won the NBA’s scoring title on four occasions. In 2016, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Iverson’s popularity around the world stemmed from a unique blend of electrifying on-court talent, fearless attitude, and massive cultural impact that reshaped basketball and beyond.
Standing just 6 feet tall and weighing around 75kg, Iverson played with relentless intensity, guiding the underdog 76ers to the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers in 2001.
Beyond the on-court accolades, Iverson became a cultural force in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He mainstreamed hip-hop culture into the NBA by donning cornrows, tattoos, baggy shorts, headbands, elbow sleeves and bling jewellery.
In his only Sydney appearance, the 50-year-old is expected to get a huge reception tomorrow at Culture Kings, with limited Meet and Greet packages still available via megatix.com.au.
