The Western Sydney Wanderers have sacked coach Alen Stajcic mid-way through their A-League campaign.
The Wanderers have won just three of 13 matches this season and sit last on the A-League ladder.
Stajcic was a dead man walking after the side’s 2-1 loss to Newcastle on Saturday night.
As is often the case in football, coaches have worn the blame for Western Sydney’s poor performances since inagurual manager Tony Popovic’s departure in 2017.
The Wanderers have gone through seven coaches in nine years, including Hayden Foxe who served as interim coach for a period in 2017.
“Western Sydney Wanderers FC have tonight confirmed that the club has parted ways with Isuzu UTE A-League head coach Alen Stajcic and assistant coach Nahuel Arrarte effective immediately,” the club said in a statement tonight.
“The club would like to thank Alen and Nahuel for their efforts across the club and wish them both success in the future.”
The club did not confirm an interim coach or if any decisions had been made on the path forward, other than stating an update would be provided “shortly”.
Western Sydney is due to play Perth on Sunday.
