Course revealed for Parramatta Half Marathon

The Parramatta Half Marathon today unveiled its official 21.1km race course, finisher medal and race shirt design.

The race is due to take place on Sunday, June 21.

The course starts on O’Connell Street, takes runners through Parramatta Park, the CBD, Parramatta Square and along the river foreshore, before delivering them to a rockstar finish inside CommBank Stadium – the only race in Sydney to finish inside a stadium and the first running event ever hosted at CommBank Stadium.

The course has been officially measured and certified, meeting the standards required for personal best attempts and elite competition.

With over 7,000 runners already registered, the event is 85 per cent sold out – with fewer than 1,000 places remaining.

“Parramatta Park welcomes millions of visitors each year and the new Parramatta Half Marathon is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the park’s natural beauty and rich heritage to a whole new audience,” said Greater Sydney Parklands Chief Executive, Joshua French.

“We’re excited to see thousands of athletes experience this magnificent landscape as they run through the historic heart of Parramatta Park.”

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Martin Zaiter said it was a big moment.

“The course announcement for the inaugural Parramatta Half Marathon marks a huge moment for our growing global City, with our CBD landmarks, streets and river foreshore set to be on display,” he said.

“To celebrate their outstanding achievement, athletes will be rewarded with a brand new medal and t-shirt when they cross the finish line at Commbank Stadium.

“We’ve seen thousands of registrations so far and we’re only a few months away so I encourage everyone to register before it sells out.”
