After seven years on the City of Parramatta Council, serving as both a Councillor and Lord Mayor, Donna Davis has announced her resignation.

In a post shared to Facebook, Davis said she is proud to have helped shape the City of Parramatta through a period of tremendous change and growth.

“However, with a growing number of commitments and responsibilities as Member for Parramatta I have decided to tender my resignation as a Councillor,” she said.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me in my role as Councillor and Lord Mayor. I hope you are as proud as I am of what we’ve achieved together.

“A special thank you to the residents of the Epping Ward where together we have accomplished a great deal.

“Now, it’s back to work as Member for Parramatta. Exciting times ahead!”

Davis also said that with less than eight months to the next NSW Local Government elections, she would support Council not filling the vacancy, as is common practice in situations such as this.
